Solubility Information from the Textbook

Most ionic compounds such as salts are soluble in water. This is because the polar water molecules have a strong attraction for charged ions.
CO2 is also soluble in water the solubility reaction may be described as:
                                        CO2 +H2O H2CO3 H++HCO3-
A saturated Solution is one in which no more of the particular solute can be dissolved in a given quantity of the solvent at the specified temperature. A solution which contains less than this maximum amount of solute is and unsaturated solution.
The solubility of a give substances in a particular solvent is the concentration of it's saturated solution at the specified temperature. It is the maximum amount of substance that will dissolve in a given amount of the solvent at that temperature.
The solubility of salt in water is supposed to be about 37g of salt in 100mL of water at room temperature (25 degrees celcius)
